En fotograf har ensamrätt till sina fotografiska verk i samma stund som de skapats. Ensamrätt innebär att det enbart är fotografen som har rätt att sprida, kopiera, överföra eller på annat sätt göra sina fotografier tillgängliga för allmänheten. Fotografen har även ensamrätt på att ändra sitt fotografiska verk eller att överföra det till en annan konstart. Ensamrätten innebär att alla som vill använda ett fotografiskt verk måste ha tillstånd från fotografen.

Exclusivity means that only the photographer has the right to distribute, copy, transmit or otherwise make his/her photographs available to the public. The photographer also has the exclusive right to change his photographic works or to transfer it to another art form. Exclusivity means that anyone wishing to use a photographic work must have permission from the photographer.
